Physician Assistants (PAs) are essential contributors to Canada's healthcare system. They play a vital role by providing high-quality, accessible medical care across various settings, including hospitals, clinics and remote communities. In addition to their role as licensed clinicians who provide patient care as part of a healthcare team, PAs are increasingly contributing to healthcare leadership, including the advancement of health knowledge and health system innovations.
PA education at the University of Toronto Temerty Faculty of Medicine is delivered in collaboration with NOSM University (NOSM U), who together comprise the Consortium of PA Education. Thanks to this partnership, PA education at Temerty Medicine provides a balance in academic and clinical orientation, extensive access to health care relevant resources, and a program curriculum that maximizes training in historically underserved areas, including northern Ontario and Scarborough.
