Excellence in Teaching Award

Description

To recognize outstanding teaching in the BScPA Program

Eligibility

  • A teacher in the BScPA Program; may be a course director, TA, guest facilitator, guest speaker or preceptor

  • Individuals who won this award in the previous 3 years are ineligible

  • Nominees are not required to have DFCM faculty appointment

  • Nominees may be from any clinical discipline or have an equivalent designation of expertise

Nomination

  • Nominated by students

  • Nomination is to include:

    • Full name, title, and professional designation of the nominee

    • Name of the nominator

    • Up to 1000 character statement describing:

      • A summary of the known contributions supporting the nomination

      • The impact of these contributions on students

Selection Criteria

  • Judged by the Awards committee

  • Criteria to include any of:

    • Contributes to student learning as a role model for others

    • Commitment to quality teaching:

      • accessibility to supporting student achievement

      • innovative teaching methods

      • excellent organizational skills

      • stimulates critical thinking in students

      • demonstrates enthusiasm for subject matter

PA Role Model Award

Description

To recognize an outstanding Physician Assistant involved in the BScPA Program

Eligibility

  • A Physician Assistant involved in the BScPA Program; may be related to teaching, mentoring, collaborating, or supporting (includes course directors, TAs, guest facilitators, guest speakers, and preceptors)

  • Individuals who won this award in the previous 3 years are ineligible

  • Nominees are not required to have DFCM faculty appointment

  • Nominees must be a Canadian Certified Physician Assistant (CCPA)

Nomination

  • Nominated by students, peers, self, faculty or PA teachers

  • Nomination is to include:

    • Full name, title, and professional designation of the nominee

    • Up to 1000 character statement describing:

      • A summary of the known contributions supporting the nomination

      • The impact of these contributions on students

Selection Criteria

  • Judged by the Awards committee

  • Criteria to include any of:

    • Demonstrates the key roles that define a Physician Assistant, as a:

Faculty Scholar Award

Description

To recognize a BScPA Faculty member, teacher/facilitator or teaching assistant who has demonstrated excellent scholarly work

Eligibility

  • BScPA faculty member, teacher/facilitator or teaching assistant who has published or presented scholarly work at the local, provincial, national or international level

Nomination

  • Nominated by students, peers, self, faculty or PA/MD teachers

  • Nomination is to include

    • Full name, title, and professional designation of the nominee

    • Name, title and professional designation of the nominator and relationship to nominee

    • up to 1000 character statement describing:

      • A summary of the scholarly work

      • Why this is a demonstration of excellent scholarly work

      • Link to the work (if available)

Selection criteria

  • Judged by the Awards committee

  • Criteria to include:

    • impact on PA education or the health care system
